On August 13th, 2011, we headed over to Vancouver Island to photograph Meghan and Mark’s big day. Our first stop was at Meghan’s family summer cabin on Shawnigan Lake, where the girls were getting ready. Not only was the cabin a lovely and relaxing place to get ready, but it also happened to be the place Mark proposed to Meghan. We even had a chance to photograph the amazing crib coffee table where it took place. After the girls were ready, we headed over to the gorgeous Fairburn Farmstay and Guesthouse for their ceremony followed by reception. Their wedding was a great mix of rustic elegance and style. Everything from their details (like Meghan’s Mom’s homemade jam) to Meghan’s dress (we love love loved her Ivy & Aster gown, it suited her to a tee) to the people at the wedding, was amazing. It was such a fun day and we were honoured to be a part of it. The PhotoBooth that we did was particularly wild that night (in a good way, of course)! For all the details, be sure to scroll all the way down.
We are also very happy to announce that their wedding was featured on the always inspiring Style me Pretty Canada on January 9th 2012. How Meghan and Mark decided on their Venue (Bride’s own words)
“I grew up on the Island and had a summer cabin in the Cowichan Valley. We had looked at several places and were still undecided. The evening that we did all the tours of locations we went for dinner at a local pizzeria in Victoria. Up on the wall was a massive picture of a water buffalo and a farmer-we asked the waiter where it was and it turns out it was Fairburn Farm. Our minds were made up. We knew we wanted a rustic, natural setting, and when we cam across the farm it was perfection. Although they had no flat ground and had never had a wedding where we wanted to have the ceremony and reception, we had a vision. We worked closely with Brett and Maryann (the owners) to prepare for the big day. They took on levelling the ground, massive amounts of gardening, and renovating the B&B and the result was a picture prefect location.”
